On Friday, May 29th, 2009, at 7:00pm, the second meeting of the SHCC Website/Internet Committee was held at Lindsey Oswald's house.
In attendance were Cabot Nelson, Lindsey Oswald, and Amy Barry. (Scott Kisling was excused.)
The following items were discussed:
- Web site progress. We're excited with the progress and how we can update the web site.
- Cabot will create another submenu titled "Community Info" for items such as links to the city's "Being a Good Neighbor" article.
- Cabot will find a way to change the "404 not found" message for those who have linked to the old site.
- Amy, Lindsey, and Cabot agreed that "JCal" looked like a good calendar and events system. However, it would cost $29 to install.
- Lindsey has access to the web statistics. For instance, we've had 71 visits to the web site since Cabot and Amy installed the analytics code on May 17th.
- Amy and Lindsey agree that the Constant Contact management system would do well. It'll cost $15 per month for up to 500 contacts. We estimate that the city currently spends $0.33 per mailing each month, for about 480 people, which is about $160 total. That could be better spent on an email system.
- Amy, Cabot, and Lindsey got the banners working on the web site, but we still must test how to place the banners. We know that we can count the number of clicks and impressions for each banner, so we can eventually sell banner advertising.
Adjourned, 8:15pm. |
