Sugar House Land Use Subcommittee Report March 2010 We had a committee meeting March 15, and discussed the new alcohol ordinance. We had a map to look at actual parcels by zone. There are not a lot of places that alcohol will fit except in the business district. However, the Planning Commission report has now gone to the City Council, and the staff report does NOT include the amendments as recommended by the Planning Commission. Not sure when this will be on the City Council agenda. In the meantime, you should discuss your concerns with members of the City Council. Chik Fil A has filed a petition with the city for a drive in restaurant at 1206 East 21st South. They will be on the May agenda of the Sugar House Community Council. They already met with the Land Use Committee. Texas Street Rezone from Institutional to Residential was approved by the Planning Commission and will be on the City Council agenda for approval May 4. They close on the property later this month. 2028 Lake Street Master Plan Amendment has been postponed indefinitely, until the petitioner can rebuild relationships with the neighborhood. Then the petition may go forward. RDA Project on Wilmington The Redevelopment Agency reviewed the projects received as a result of the RFP, and narrowed the selection to three. Of those three, “Wilmington Gardens” was selected. This is a Woodbury Project, in conjunction with Westminster College. As soon as the Development Agreement is signed between Wilmington Gardens and the RDA, we will begin to see more information. The project will definitely come to the Sugar House Land Use Committee, and then to the entire Sugar House Community Council for review. No timeframe is available on this yet. No new information on the following projects:
